| Location: | London, (states/regions/territories), United Kingdom |
Appearance: 6'1", Brown hair, blue eyes, long face, medium frame. Typically wears glasses. Bears a remarkable resemblance to Anthony Stewart Head. Special Note: bears a stylized rune-like symbol tattoo, on his upper left arm. File under best not to ask about
Personality and Background: Sometimes strict, sometimes tender. A bibliophile and a Luddite when it comes to computers. Skilled at research, and a veritable font of information on the Occult, and the supernatural. Like most Watchers, has the Watcher Diaries, and various codex. Studied magic so familiar with some spells and rituals, primarily from a ceremonial magic bent.
Rupert Giles has had a long and colorful history. Born to a family of Watchers, grew up in a strict household with an overbearing father. He went to Oxford, but rebelled against his birthright as Watcher by falling into a rough crowd, that included Ethan Rayne, Deidre, Philip, and so on, who were all into sex, black magick, and rock and roll. They found a spell for summoning Eyghon, a sleep demon whose possession would give them a high. One time, it went horribly wrong, and their possessed friend was killed to stop it. Afterwards, the Council had tracked down Giles, and he ended up becoming a Watcher. He worked as a curator at the British Museum for a while before he recieved his assignment to help a Slayer. One by the name of Buffy Anne Summers, recently moved to Sunnydale, CA, from LA, and had lost her previous watcher, Merrick.
He arrived there, and helped her, only to end up as mentor and father figure to the Scooby Gang, Buffy and her band of friends. They survived several ends of the worlds, living on top of an active Hellmouth for years. He went back to London for a while, first after Buffy died, returning after her resurrection, ended up heading back since he felt she was depending on him too much and needed more independence. He returned again with added magic from a coven in England to assist him in dealing with a crazed Willow, now full of anger, vengeance and black magick due to her lover Tara's death. Through his assistance, and then Xander's help, they stopped her, and Giles took Willow back to England that summer to work with the coven, and assist her with her magic difficulties. He returned yet again, when Watchers and Potentials were being targetted by the First, and assisted in the last battle of the Sunnydale Hellmouth. The town was destroyed, and they suffered casualties before succeeding.
Now he's in England, though sometimes heading to Cleveland to assist with the Hellmouth there. Mainly he's been trying to re-establish a newer and better Watcher's Council after the original headquarters was destroyed, murdering the original Council in the process.
He should know better to be wary of certain doors, for they may lead anywhere. Including the end of the universe.
Disclaimer: Rupert Giles isn't mine, he belongs to the infamous Joss Whedon, as well as Mutant Enemy, and Kuzui Productions. The PB's not mine, it's the handsome Anthony S. Head. No profit is being made, and this journal is only for RPing purposes at .
